OVERVIEW

The Creative Studio Director inspires, mentors and supervises our team of Studio Designers and oversees the seamless execution of creative deliverables in print, social and digital media. Additionally, the Creative Studio Director is a true partner to the creative and design department in concepting and creating insightful, engaging, effective, buzzworthy and meaningful creative work. 

The Creative Studio Director believes that production is a balance of science and art. You don’t just complete the work efficiently; you make the work better because of your deep understanding of design and your team’s final touch.

The Creative Studio Director has solid management skills and near obsessive attention to detail on projects large and small to join our creative culture. S/he is never afraid to get their hands dirty.  They are as comfortable doing the work as they are overseeing it and realize that sometimes this is the only way to get it done.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, mentor and train studio designers and production artists
  • Oversees the production of final mechanicals for all digital and print artwork according to project and art directors’ specifications; works with creative team and project managers to achieve desired results and meet deadlines
  • Works closely with the creative department, project managers and production to assign digital and print projects, plan workflow and adhere to timelines to ensure workflow is operating seamlessly
  • Works with the creative as a design, conceptual and executional partner
  • Demonstrates leadership while supervising studio designers and production artists. Maintain regular check-ins and goal planning with team members as well as individual performance reviews
  • Responsible for studio financial reporting and annual scopes for all clients and new business and forecast upcoming resource needs, in collaboration with Director of Creative Operations
  • Continually seek ways of improving quality and efficiency of final files produced by studio department
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of internal processes, finding efficiencies across departments
  • Build strong relationships at all levels in the organization
  • Prioritize and adapt to changing situations, industry standards and client needs 
  • Contribute to concepts and design layouts and deliverables as assigned
  • Design and execute interactive and print projects including online banners, html emails, flyers, ads, POP, billboards, websites, social media, etc.
  • Ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment
  • Help ensure quality and consistency across projects
  • Work well cross office with Tampa Creative Studio Director and department

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in an agency or design environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or advertising preferred
  • Highly proficient in Adobe creative suite applications
  • Solid design skills with strong print and digital production background
  • Experience working with budgets and financial statements
  • Proven managerial skills
  • A problem solver
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Must be effective at motivating and developing people
  • Have the ability to anticipate problems and react appropriately
  • High level of communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints
  • Must possess a strong detail-orientation and solid organizational skills as well as a strong team orientation
  • Position requires local and possibly overnight travel (up to 5 to 10% of the time)
