VP, Director of Media Planning

We are looking for a VP, Director of Media Planning with a proven record of creative media solutions, operational excellence and a strong POV.  The Director of Media Planning has both a 50,000­ foot global view of the Agency’s clients, and an understanding of the operations of the accounts and their Media-related scope of work at a granular level. They influence every aspect of Media Planning, as well as all other media disciplines. They are thought leaders who are sought out by both the internal agency team and the external clients for advice and counsel based on their track recording for driving innovative media opportunities and engagements, problem solving and making things better when they are involved.

This role oversees and is ultimately responsible for everything Media Planning – the health, the strength and creative viability of Media strategy, the power of the connection between Media and the work, and its ability to deliver results for our clients’ business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Think 3+ years out. For our clients and our business. What are the next big trends we should be getting prepared for; what technology is going to change the way we work/consumer behavior, etc.
  • Be accountable to 22squared leadership around team retention, utilization, productivity, meeting client deliverables
  • Manages recruitment, retention and professional development of media planning team
  • Provides a consistent vision around future of media
  • Recommend products/tools/services
  • Recommend industry events/conferences/training for the Media department
  • Work directly with key department leaders, direct reports, and account leadership to provide solutions and great work
  • Ensure operational excellence: establish/implement consistent process, onboard/manage tools/resources

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Manages the process of development, negotiation, implementation, tracking, reporting and optimization of all media plans for assigned accounts
  • Maintains strong client/vendor relations to develop comprehensive media plans that successfully accomplish their goals
  • Provides strategic analysis of plans to determine impact and overall outcome on all measurable variables such as sales, guest/traffic counts, average check, lift in measurable brand attributes, awareness, advocacy, etc.
  • Anticipates & addresses client challenges across multiple client engagements. Main liaison & consultant to client on media matters.
  • Solicits new industry concepts and tools that will help grow and enhance client’s business
  • Works on new business as a part of an integrated team
  • Collaborates cross-office with their team of Media Directors and team/agency leaders on departmental and agency initiatives
  • Work with EMD on financial aspects of the account budget, staffing, projections, etc. for assigned team
  • Inspires team as a servant leader always advocating new ways to solve problems
  • Creates a positive working environment and fosters a team approach
  • Responsible for training, managing, motivating, growing & evaluating team-members

Minimum Requirements:

  • 15+ years of media planning experience
  • Digital Platform Knowledge & Experience (search, programmatic, social, mobile, video, native)
  • DMP (with Oracle, Salesforce and/or Adobe) experience
  • Experience with data-driven and online media (display, social, search, content integration etc.) preferred
  • Experience with all forms of Media: National & Local Broadcast, OOH, Print
  • Translates how media strategy & tactics can address clients’ broader business impact
  • Deep experience with media industry tools/products/resources (e.g. Prisma, Competitive, R/F, Ad Servers, etc.)
  • Excellent management and leadership skills and experience managing a large team of media directors, associate directors, supervisors, planners and assistants
  • Extensive senior level client contact experience
  • BA/BS in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, or related field
